Long Island NeuroSpine: Authorizations

IMPORTANT!

We must obtain prior approval for you before you schedule your MRI, EMG or Physical Therapy appointment. Once we receive your authorization, our office will contact you with the approval number. Please do not schedule your appointment prior to our office contacting you. This may take 7 - 10 business days, depending on your insurance carrier.
Most participating insurance carriers do not require prior authorization for MRIs. Only a prescription from our office is necessary to get the test.
Most surgical procedures require precertification by your insurance carrier, which will be handled by our offices.

All Oxford patients must pick a Physical Therapy facility. We cannot obtain authorization without this information. Please call (631) 246-6100 with the name of the facility of your choice.

WORKERS COMPENSATION

Authorizations can take up to 30 days for MRIs, Physical Therapy and EMGs. Requests for Surgery may take longer. Sometimes you will be required to go for a "hearing" or Independent Medical Examination (IME). We will mail you a copy of your authorization once our office has received it. "One Call Medical" or "Med Focus" may contact you to schedule your MRI since some compensation insurances use their own vendors to schedule MRIs. You can expedite the process by contacting your case manager and/or attorney yourself. If you have any questions, please contact our offices.
